Barcelona senior executives talk about financing and 1:1 rules: financial risks are very high in 2028, and they are working hard to reduce risks

Barca explained key questions about Espai Barça's refinancing at a media breakfast meeting on Friday and answered some questions about recent club hot topics, namely returning to the 1:1 rule.

Previously, Barcelona only maintained that ratio for a few months until they removed the 100 million euros of revenue from the VIP box from their accounts. Currently, the revenue has only paid 58 million euros and 42 million euros to be paid. "We are working hard and keeping calm," said Barca's director Manel del Río, one of the main leaders in charge of communicating with La Liga on the 1:1 rule. To achieve this goal, Barcelona needs to include the 100 million euros of VIP seat revenue, which requires the approval of consulting company Crowe Global and will be approved by La Liga later. Their goal is to enable these VIP seats at the Gambel Cup on August 10. In addition, the club will need to complete several player transfer operations: the most urgent thing is De Jong's new contract, Ter Stegen's departure and the possible sale of a central defender.

Manel del Río also explained the key points of Espai Barça credit refinancing, saying the initial assumption was: "By 2028, the club faces a lot of risks, so our strategy is to minimize this risk." Barcelona has changed its initial financing plan for the Espai Barça project. Now, the club will pay 208 million euros in the next five years; 500.2 million euros in 6-9 years; and 786.8 million euros from 2035. This change is based on an increase of €424 million in debt in the final stage.

Barca expects Espai Barça to generate 247 million euros in revenue each year. The specific calculation method is as follows: tickets and catering account for 22%, conference activities account for 15%, VIP reception (VIP private rooms) account for 24%, museum revenue account for 15%, and sponsor revenue account for 24%.
