Deco: Barcelona s current focus is on renewal. We won t buy people crazy, just two to four
Recently, in an interview with BBC Sports, Barcelona Sports Director Deco summarized the 2024/25 season and looked forward to the future. When asked about Luis Dias and Rashford, Deco said: "Our current focus is on renewing existing players and discussing new players later. These two players are really great, but they have contracts with their respective clubs, so we won't talk too much about them. When we decide to enter the transfer market, we will definitely find the right player. I don't think we need to bring in too many players, two to four, but we won't be crazy buying." When talking about the players' interest in joining Barcelona, Deco praised the club's appeal. He said: "When I talk to the player agents, they all want to join or stay here, which is very important for the club. Our image is still good, Barcelona is still a great club, and our football style has attracted many players." Deco also warned that although Barcelona beat Real Madrid in all four national derbys this season, the latter will become stronger next season: "Then it won't be easy next season because Real Madrid has a lot of top players. In my opinion, they have a very good team. Of course, they want to be better. It's important for us to have a strong Real Madrid so that the league can maintain a high level of competition and we have to make sure the best players stay in La Liga." Deco made clear his commitment to Barcelona and Chairman Laporta in the interview: "Barcelona is my club, I love Barcelona. I saw everything happening in the club from the outside, and I always thought I could help Barcelona get back to the highest level." "I know I will face difficulties when joining, especially because of the financial rules, which is not a financial problem, but the rules of the financial fair play in Spain are stricter than the Premier League and other countries." "This is a problem for many clubs, just because Barcelona is a big club, so everyone only hears us. We have to work hard and see how to improve the team, youth training players and experienced players are very important."
