ESPN reported that Thiago is expected to return to Barcelona and join Frick's coaching staff again.

According to ESPN's multiple sources, Barcelona is expected to finalize Thiago's return as a member of the coaching staff in the next few weeks as an important addition to coach Frick's team.

This former Spanish international who came from Lamacia's youth training helped the German coach adapt to Barcelona's life when Frick first took office last summer. However, due to residence permit issues, Thiago was forced to return to Liverpool after only more than a month of his tenure, where he settled after finishing his career as a Reds.

Since returning to Barcelona, Thiago has been waiting for the opportunity to return to Frick's team, but restrictions on the club's fiscal fairness bill have delayed the official appointment. Sources said Barcelona is operating a series of deals to free up salary space to complete the signing.

When Frick coached Bayern in 2020, Thiago worked with him as a core member of the Triple Crown Championship. At 34, he will continue this cooperative relationship as an assistant coach, focusing on guiding young players to adapt to Frick's tactical system.

Thiago played 101 games for Barcelona's first team during his growth period. He transferred to Bayern in 2013 and joined Liverpool in 2020. Injuries have caused him to make only 98 appearances at Anfield and finally hang up his boots in advance in 2024.
