Hoffman: If Alonso stays, I will consider transfers. I hope to communicate with him honestly

Leverkusen veteran Hoffman said that if Alonso stayed, he would consider transferring, and he was expected to get new opportunities after changing coaches.

Hoffman, 33, joined Leverkusen in 2023, but became a substitute last season, making only 11 appearances in the Bundesliga, including 4 starts. However, Leverkusen changed coach this summer, former coach Alonso left the team, and new coach Ten Hach took office. Leverkusen is currently in training in Brazil, and Hoffmann is interviewed.

Hoffman first said: "I feel good now, but if I were coaching by Alonso, I might consider transferring and leaving the team. I hope the coach can point out the issues directly and communicate with candidly and directly. The coach should not wait for more than two weeks to do this, because as a coach, he hopes that the players will remain in the best form to improve their training level. The situation at that time was simply harsh and it was normal for human nature."

Now the arrival of new coach Ten Hach has given Hoffman hope again. "New coach, new opportunity. I belong to the Bundesliga, and I will try my best to compete for my position again. I also conducted strength and speed training with my personal coach during the holidays, and I hope to prove myself. Although I am 33 years old, I am still in my best condition and the coach can rely on me."

Finally, Hoffman said: "Last season can still bring you some experience, especially in difficult times. At such a stage, it is very important to maintain a strong mental level. Even if the coach has opinions about you, it will not affect your positive attitude towards work."
