Legendary Bayern goalkeeper Maier advises Hoeness to retire: Stop, you just can’t let go

Bayern legendary goalkeeper Sepp Meyer made a frank suggestion to his old teammate and club honorary president Hoeness in a recent event, hoping that he could completely withdraw from Bayern affairs.

You recently made suggestions for your old teammate Uli Hoeness’s role at Bayern. Can you give us your views in detail?

Hoeness, if I can give you one piece of advice, it would be to stop.

Why do you think he should stop?

He just can't let it go, and he is still interfering in all Bayern affairs. I don't know if he's doing himself any good by doing this.

The 81-year-old Maier and the 73-year-old Hoeness are old comrades for many years. Together they have won numerous honors for Bayern and were core members of the 1974 West Germany World Cup-winning team.

After his playing career ended, Hoeness served as Bayern club manager for a long time and later became its chairman. He has served as honorary president of the club since 2019 and remains a member of the supervisory board.
