Due to a cracked shower pipe in an empty loft room, major water damage was caused on August 7 at the Forsthaus Valepp (located on the German-Australia border, 18 km southwest of the Villas in Lake Tatégen). For a month, hotels operated by Neuer have continued to use drying equipment. Some indoor areas need to be repaired, and the walls must be re-chised and repaired.

Neur's business partner Johannes Lable confirmed to the Munich Mercury: "A large amount of cubic meters of water penetrated into the historic walls and ceilings. The amount of loss? As high as hundreds of thousands of euros!"

Neur and Lable invested 6 million euros to the 184-year-old Forsthaus Valepp hotel for a two-year renovation, which was originally under the jurisdiction of the State Forestry Administration and was subject to many restrictions by the cultural relics protection department. Neuer and Rapur won the Misbach 2024 Cultural Relics Protection Award for Restoration Projects. The hotel has been open for one year and is very popular with cyclists and hikers. German Chancellor Mertz has also visited.

Rabour said: "Thank God, we have sufficient insurance and the outdoor business area is not affected."

Dining and drinking can still be done in the beer garden during the indoor dining area and room closures. The problem is that business in Bavaria has been affected almost all summer holidays, and construction is expected to last at least throughout September.

Rapur said: "We understood from the beginning that this hotel is our lifelong career. We want to write a new chapter in history for this 180-year-old Forsthaus Valepp hotel, which lasts for another 180 years. When we signed with the State Forestry Administration, the 'patient' had already opened its chest."
