Sell: If Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid reach the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup, AFE recommends postponing the first round of La Liga

Recently, the Association of Spanish Football Players (AFE) held a new event in Madrid, in which the media asked AFE about the possibility of postponing the first round of La Liga to ensure that Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have enough rest time after participating in the Club World Cup.

According to David Estewe, La Liga president Tebas made it clear: "At present, we do not consider scheduling the Madrid derby in the first round, nor do we consider allowing Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid to miss the first round. We will discuss the measures needed to be taken with relevant institutions."

"We will abide by the collective agreement to ensure that the players have a three-week vacation, that's all. We cannot let our schedule be subject to the Club World Cup, which is a game that neither the European League nor the club supports. Letting the Club World Cup determine our schedule is harmful to the league."

Despite Tebas' statement, the AFE's attitude is still firm. According to Sell Radio, they have communicated with La Liga, the Spanish Football Association, two Madrid clubs, as well as captains Cork and Carvajal: "If the Spanish teams reach at least the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, they will not compete in the first round on August 17, but start the new season on the following weekend, so they will have three weeks of vacation and three weeks of pre-season preparation time." The union source emphasized to Sell Radio that this is a basic health issue, and if two top teams cannot compete under the same conditions, it will be unfavorable for the league and may lose some important players due to injuries.

They believed that Tebas made these remarks to not expose his position in advance, but they were sure that the match would be postponed eventually, pointing out that the first two rounds of the Cup of del Rey would be the time for the make-up.
