Byron Scott: The Pistons looked less talented than the Lakers but had better chemistry
Former Lakers player Byron Scott talked about the 04 Finals in his podcast show Byron Scott 's Fast Break. Scott said: "I worked at ESPN and reported on that series. I think Detroit is not as talented as the other party, but they are very united. Larry Brown is the head coach, but he is actually one of the best coaches in history and is very old in coaching. They have Chauncey Billups, Hamilton, Prince, tough guy Ben and Rashid Wallace. Rashid can also play in the fifth position, and there are Oku and others in the bench. So they directly sent people to fight and consume O'Neal, try not to double-team, and defend other Lakers players well, try not to lose their positions. I think that Pistons have better chemistry, and it is rare to see which team has better chemistry than them." In the 2004, the Pistons defeated the Lakers 4-1 and won the championship.
