NCAA coach: The Lakers want to choose Towns in 15 years, but Towns wants to be the top pick

Former Kentucky coach and current Arkansas coach Calipari recalled the 2015 draft.

"The Lakers wanted Towns to be picked by them in the second pick, and I said 'You might be second and then go to Los Angeles', and Towns said 'No, I'll wear a coat, I want to be No. 1', and he had a great time in Minnesota," Calipari recalled.

In the 2015 draft, the Timberwolves chose Towns with the No. 1 pick, the Lakers chose Russell with the No. 1 pick, and the 76ers chose Okafor with the No. 1 pick.
