Team Note: The Celtics will not trade big players in the new season unless they send Brown or White away

Recently, Celtics reporter Brian Robb wrote an article about the possible operations of the team.

When asked if it is possible for the Celtics to package Payton Prichard and George Nyan for a big name player (such as Laurie Markanen, Domantas Sabonis), Brian Robb said: "I don't think we'll see these two players traded for the kind of big name players you mentioned this season, mainly due to financial and labor agreement considerations, plus Jason Tatum is expected to miss the season. " But the bigger problem is salary. Markanen and Sabonis have annual salaries of $46 million and $43 million, respectively, so any deal that gets them, even with Prichard and Nion as part of the deal quote, will make the Celtics' total salary soar above the second tyrant line again. Brad Stevens has made it clear that the team does not want to touch that line anymore due to the penalty of basketball and luxury taxes that exceeds the second rich line.

"Ultimately, the Celtics' financial situation this season makes it more likely that we will see some deals aimed at cutting total salary than increasing the salary before the 2025-26 season. Once Tatum returns, things will be different, but even so, the team may not propose a huge salary increase unless another bigger player is sent away (Jaylen Brown? Derek White?) in the deal."
