In the first round of the Club World Cup group stage, Bayern defeated Auckland City 10-0. In an interview after the game, veteran Mueller joked about the heat of the weather and his expectations for the next schedule.

In an interview with the player channel after the game, Mueller smiled and "complained" that he had to play the whole game: "90 minutes! Under such high temperature." The last time he played the whole game was in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals on April 16, the 2-2 draw against Inter Milan.

In this 10-0 victory over Oakland City, the local hot weather in Cincinnati brought some extra difficulties. Mueller also joked: "I have to take out the ice bucket of Mertesacker now. It's really tiring to play for 90 minutes."

Former German international Mertesacker said in an interview after Germany defeated Algeria in the 2014 World Cup that he would lie in the ice bucket for three days.

Muller was very satisfied with this big victory: "We played very well, we played very seriously, we played very strongly, we didn't let any accidents happen at all. After each goal we continued to attack and immediately wanted to score the next one - although the weather was very hot."

Muller continued: "Of course, the opponent also has to play in high temperatures. But you always need to defeat yourself, so you can't play cautiously and slow down the pace, but we continue to put pressure on the frontcourt, and create the next opportunity as soon as we have the chance, so we finally won such a score."

Bayern had a very successful start in the Club World Cup, and will face the competition with Boca youth and Benfica. Mueller is also looking forward to continuing to receive strong support from fans: "We have fans, and they are fully committed as the game progresses, and we are very excited when we scored.
