Polish media: Szczesni s contract has expired and is still waiting to sign a new contract with Barcelona
According to the Polish media "TVP SPORT", Szczesny's contract has expired and is still waiting for Barcelona to renew his contract. Schchensni's contract with Barcelona officially expired on June 30, 2025. The Polish goalkeeper is still waiting to sign a new contract with Barcelona, but many signs indicate that he is likely to remain in Barcelona's team. The former Polish goalkeeper is currently a free agent and is theoretically free to sign with other clubs. However, the 35-year-old is expected to still play for Barcelona, where Frick coaches. Barcelona strengthened the goalkeeper position in the summer and introduced Joan Garcia. The club's senior management has high hopes for the Spanish youth goalkeeper, hoping that he can become the team's new No. 1 goalkeeper. In addition to him, the team currently has Ter Stegen and Szczesny, but Szczesny has not renewed its contract yet. According to multiple media reports, it is only a matter of time before Szczesni renews their contract. Barcelona director Deco made it clear in an interview with World Sports that he hopes to renew his contract with Szczesni. He said: "Yes, Szczesni will renew his contract. Currently we have four goalkeepers because Penia also has a contract. We will make a decision in a timely manner." Spanish media said that Szczesni has reached an oral agreement with the club, and the new contract is expected to be signed until 2027. If an agreement is reached, Szczesni will become Barcelona's No. 2 goalkeeper, competing for the starter with Joan Garcia, who is regarded as Barcelona's future starting goalkeeper. Ter Stegen's situation is unclear, and Barcelona hopes to break up with him, but he hopes to stay in the team and continue to compete for the starting position. Schchensny joined Barcelona in October 2024, when Ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury. Szczesni played 30 games for Barcelona last season and completed 14 clean sheets. Szczesni's steady performance on the goal line helped Frick's team win the La Liga title and won the King's Cup and the Spanish Super Cup.
