Vázquez: I told Vinicius not to be influenced but he didn’t always listen. I cried when I won the Champions League for the first time

In an exclusive interview, Leverkusen player Vazquez shared his most unforgettable moments during his time at Real Madrid, and talked about the teammates and coaches who had the deepest impact on him, as well as the atmosphere in the locker room.

As a Real Madrid player, what is your happiest day?

I have many happy days. Perhaps the happiest moment was after winning my first Champions League with Milan. I remember the moment we won the title, at the San Siro, in the VIP box on the sidelines, with my wife and my brother, and I burst into tears.

Which teammate left the deepest mark on you?

In terms of life, there are many. I've been very lucky to meet a lot of really good people. Nacho, Carvajal, Modric, Ramos, Asensio, Kroos... From a professional perspective, the most eye-catching ones are Ramos and Ronaldo. Their professionalism and work culture have brought me the biggest impact.

Which coach left the deepest mark on you?

It is Zidane. Although I have had many excellent coaches, such as Ancelotti, Benitez, Lopetegui... but Zidane is the most special. I have a great relationship with all the coaches.

Is the Real Madrid locker room complicated?

We are all ordinary people who like to do ordinary things. I had a really good time in the dressing room. We enjoyed a lot of wins and a lot of high-level training.

Was it difficult during Vinicius's controversial period?

It's complicated on away days because you see your teammates and friends not doing well. You want him to perform at his best, but he's in the spotlight for something that has nothing to do with football. We tell him not to be affected, but he doesn't always listen to us.
