Adelman: Warriors let Curry attack from different areas instead of letting him be the focus from the beginning

In the NBA regular season, the Nuggets lost to the Warriors 131-137 in overtime. After the game, head coach Adelman was interviewed and talked about the Warriors' use of Curry.

Reporter: You mentioned that Stephen (Curry) is a legendary player. How does it feel as a coach to know that sometimes your guy has executed his defensive plan and he's still making those shots from 35, 40 feet away?

Coach: I think they (the Warriors) did a good job of letting him attack from different areas of the court instead of making him the clear focus from the beginning, which makes it harder for (the defense) to get up and force him to drive. After a game like tonight, you can always find countless "what ifs" - a different matchup, a different guard, etc... but no matter what, you're still going to put someone in that position when guarding the pick and roll. Look, this is a tough loss for us, the first game of the season, and it's going to be a little bit more emotionally volatile than it was going into the middle and late part of the season, but our guys have been through a lot and they're going to bounce back.
