Leonardo: I won’t be a sporting director again unless there is a buyer like Qatar and a grand plan

Brazilian star Leonardo has been unemployed since 2022. He talked about his future when participating in the RMC program.

The 56-year-old Leonardo was a Brazilian international when he was playing football and played for teams such as Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Leonardo has been engaged in coaching and football management after retiring. He has coached Milan and Inter Milan, and has also served as sporting director at both Milan and Paris Saint-Germain. Especially after the Qatar consortium moved into Paris Saint-Germain, Leonardo was responsible for the signings and laid the foundation for the team. However, Leonardo left Paris Saint-Germain in 2022 and has been idle at home without a new job since then.

Leonardo said: "I will never be a sporting director again, absolutely not. Because frankly, for me, to be a sporting director, I have to feel very strongly. I have felt this way at Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, but I don't think I will do this job at other clubs. I am not here to start over."

But Leonardo did not finish his words. Quan said dead: "My football career is almost over, yes. Unless there is a buyer like Qatar with a grand plan... For me, only such a buyer and plan are possible. But I feel that this will never happen again."

The owner of the newly promoted French Ligue 1 Paris FC is the richest man in France, the luxury goods tycoon Arnault family, and Paris FC also hopes to become a new French giant. But Leonardo expressed that he was not interested in this project: "I have never played for Paris FC... I don't think I will return to football... I don't think I will be in a place where I can debate with taxi drivers or you. It is not a matter of tiredness, but I have to have that feeling. Without that feeling, I can't do it."
